This coffee was grown by the 140 members of the Barokah Cooperative, an organization of farmers growing coffee on small lots around Mount Kerinci, Indonesia's highest volcanic peak. Historically, there's been a bit of a negative stigma surrounding Indonesian coffee within the specialty world due to the country's commitment to the divisive wet-hulling process; this lot shares few similarities with that process's famously earthy, spicy, heavy profile. Instead, it's bursting with tropical fruit flavor and sweetness—we get notes of pomegranate, mango, and vanilla wafer.
