Mr. Asefa Dukamo Korma is the CEO and a founder of Daye Bensa Coffee. Asefa moved to the heart of coffee land when he decided to make a family and start living and working in Daye town in Bensa district. At that point in time he saw that the coffee from the area had an incredible cup profile and decided to set up the primary washing station where his coffee journey began in 2002. The station is called Qonqana (sometimes called Asefa No. 1 washing station on coffee maps) and is the biggest and most advanced, in terms of capacity and practices, in the region. Many educational trainings and demonstrations take place here, even held by the regional authorities. Successively Asefa built a dry coffee mill in the town to help out with milling the natural coffee. Many expansions and certifications have been done since then and now it is a destination for coffee tourism in the region.

Daye Bensa coffee owns its own export processing facility with a complete cupping laboratory and professionals in Addis Ababa. Kenean, Asefa’s first son who was born in Daye town is the company’s export manager.  The company is now jointly led by first and second generations and exports four to six thousand tons of coffee annually.
